Shanila

Shanila is a particularly powerful stage of magic development, achieved through a rite of passage involving the loss of hair, and is something that all of the princesses have gone through at some point in their lives, with Iris being the last to do so. Each of the girls' kingdoms seems to celebrate this rite of passage in a different way; in Volta, for instance, Auriana celebrated it by decorating her hair with a string of multicolored jingle bells. In Xeris Talia said that Shanila was taken very, very seriously.

The name Shanila is also used to refer to a mysterious power boost form Iris that she obtains while desperately trying to save Princess Auriana and Nathaniel from one of Praxina's traps in "Shanila Surprise", when it was first seen and used.

The other times Iris got her Shanila form were in "Princess Brenda: Part 2" to reverse Nathaniel knowing her magical secret and the Twins' attack on the six Princesses and Brenda, and in "Crowning Glory: Part 2" in order to overpower and kill Lord Gramorr once and for all, enough to shatter his mask in two; the remaining half now donned by Praxina.

Appearance

Shanila has secondary effects. One of the effects that show the manifestation of Shanila is short hair and another one is the failure in spells. In Iris' Shanila form, which only she is seen in, her hair is turned longer and pale pinkish white that is blown above her head. She gets pink eyes and magenta 'wings', a pink and white feathery dress and heels, a sparkly dress train, her Ephedian crown and immensely strong magical spells.
